Bark @ Park Fliers/Posters

March 12, 2008 at 1:34 am | In Uncategorized | 2 Comments
Hey everyone!
So, today we wrapped up the PowerPoint and decided who was speaking for what parts of it in the assemblies.  Emma R is going to edit/revise the presentation for us and add any vital information that may be missing.  Just so you know, our Assembly schedule is as follows:
Tuesday, April 8th– MS Assembly, 10:20-10:40
Thursday, April 10th– LS Assembly, 9:00-9:30
Monday, April 28th– US Assembly, 10:00-10:40
So, if you’re speaking in the MS assembly and you’re in Parksingers, you should get permission to miss part of G block.
If you’re speaking in the LS assembly, you need to miss half an hour of your B block class.  We’ll make a not for you to give to your teacher to get you out of that.
Even if you aren’t speaking in these assemblies, it would be nice if you could try to come to at least one (MS or LS) so that you can see all of our effort pay off and can make suggestions on how we can improve the assembly for the US.
If you weren’t at today’s meeting, you are currently listed as not speaking.  I will send the list of who’s speaking for what slides around when I send the PowerPoint.  If you want to speak and are not speaking, people have expressed willingness to give up there slides (or one of their slides) for you, so let me know.  Thanks.

On a new topic, the Bark @ Park is ONE MONTH(ish) after break!  We have a lot to do.  I know some of you said that you would get together during this week to make some posters for the Bark @ Park.  Some people will also make fliers on the computer that we can hang all around the school (in bathrooms, on walls, on doors, etc.)  If you are interested in making either a flier or a poster, just let me know!  Talk to Anna Hulse and Suzy about getting together to make posters (I think they’re the ones working on it this week).  They will have poster board.
Here is the vital information that MUST go on each poster and flier:
Bark @ Park
When:  May 3rd
Time:  11:00-2:00
Admission:  $4.00 per person (free for children under age 4 and for all pets)
Also, make sure to put some of the activities up (like horse-back riding, canine demo, and the other things listed on the PowerPoint.)  I’ll send around a list of the activities and who’s doing what as far as I know sometime soon.  I left that at school, so…  I’ll probably have sent that by Friday.
We will have to shop for food and other supplies for the event on either the 12th, the 13th, the 19th, or the 20th.  Check your calendars!  Let me know what times are best for you (or if you’d rather not come).  We had a lot of fun last year.  We’ll probably go to Michaels and Wegmans again.

Finally, as Robby let you all know, we ARE having a bakesale this Friday!  Hopefully no one will have homework on Thursday night because of break (HURRAH!) or maybe you won’t have much…  Anyway, try to find time to bake, but if you can’t, that’s understandable.  Sorry about the late notice, but we forgot to discus it last week.
Sorry for the long e-mail, but we have a lot of important things going on.

Puppy Mills Presentation

November 7, 2007 at 4:34 am | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

We want to talk about what new things everyone wanted to do, and it turned out we all seem to be interested in giving an assembly on Puppy Mills.  Here are our notes from the meeting:

1. Lower School (PowerPoint, Shelter Visit?)

2.  Middle School (PowerPoint, Video)

3.  Upper School (PowerPoint, Video)

You Tube– Dog Mills (Don’t forget, we’re all going to see what videos we can find that would be middle and/or upper school appropriate.  We will watch and compare them to decide what to show.  Roemer, if you have any movies we should watch and might show a clip of, let us know.)

Show clip of CC Bear?

5 (or 6) people on PowerPoint

*Power Point– close to Bark @ Park

Have shelters for people to see (they’ll be there, you can adopt from them)

Start working after Thanksgiving Break

Assembly in April

PowerPoint ready in March

PowerPoint Sections:

1.  What is a Puppy Mill?

2.  What is the difference between puppy mills and other breeders?

3.  What are the effects of puppy mills / negative effects?

4.  Segue to pet stores and puppy mills

5.  Good Places to get Pets

6.  Bark @ Park (maybe here, rather than just talking or having the PowerPoint, we’ll show our video of last year’s B @ P!  Emma, we should make that)

Email Emma/talk to her in the halls with questions.
